Joe DuBose Jr., Past President
Joseph DuBose, Jr. has enjoyed a distinguished career in the field of education for 40 years. He worked in the St. Louis Public Schools as a teacher, coach, athletic director, data processing administrator, assistant principal, principal of McKinely High School and Sumner High School, and Assistant Superintendent. He then worked seven years as Director of Student Services in the School District of University City.
Joseph is a graduate of Soldan High School, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Harris Teacher’s College and earned two Master’s Degrees in Education and an Advance Graduate degree in secondary education from Washington University.
Among his past and present professional and civic affiliations are: former President of the Royal Vagabond Foundation serving seven years as the first Foundation President. He is also a charter member of the Royal Vagabond Foundation, Incorporated in 2005, Treasurer of the St. Louis Anniversary Club, Director of the National Youth Sports Program Harris-Stowe State University, Evaluator for the NCAA National Youth Program Evaluation Team, Deacon at West Side Missionary Baptist Church, past President of the St. Louis Administrators Association.
Joseph has received numerous awards. Among his honors 40 years of perfect attendance, Tom Lombardo scholar-athlete, Distinguished Alumni of Harris Stowe State University, Hall of Fame Mathews-Dickey, Hall of Fame Sumner High School, and Annual Distinguished Citizen, City of St. Louis, and a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc since 1964 and a recipient of the prestigious Phi Beta Sigma Trailblazer Award in 2014.
Joseph attributes his ability to achieve these accomplishments to his great supportive family- his wife Elaine, his daughters Desiree (Dwan) and Diana (Dan), grandchildren, family, and friends.
